JICHS CLASS OF 2025 IMPORTANT INFORMATION
GRADUATION UPDATES
Our James Island Charter High School 2025 Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the North Charleston Coliseum at 12:00 pm. Graduates must arrive no later than 10:30 am. Please inform your counselor if you are not participating in the ceremony. Our ceremony usually lasts for an hour and a half or less. We do not require tickets for the ceremony. There is plenty of room. Parking is free.
If there is a need for a ramp or ASL interpreter, please let Mrs. Childs-Kindred know ASAP. We will have ADA seating in the coliseum. When entering the arena, notify an usher and they will direct or escort you to the seating for guests with disabilities. The family will be able to sit with them.
To ensure a dignified graduation ceremony we have adopted the following guidelines:
1. All debts and obligations, including textbook return must be paid to participate in the graduation ceremony.
3. Cap and gown orders are made directly through Jostens.

Black dress shoes (no athletic footwear or flip flop type shoes). We strictly adhere to these rules. They are not suggestions. Note: Jack Rogers sandals are acceptable as long as they are black or a dark color. If wearing wedges, the top of the shoe should be black.
or
- Dress pants (no denim/jeans or athletic pants; black or dark color required), collared dress shirt with a tie (neck tie/bow tie), black, dark blue, or brown dress shoes with dark socks, loafers or cowboy boots. (No athletic footwear, XTRATUF Boots, Crocs, sandals or flip flops) – NO T-SHIRTS or polo-style pullovers. If wearing khakis, they must be dark blue or black.
c. Sunglasses, headgear, flip-flops, and tennis shoes are not permitted.
d. You are allowed to decorate the top of your cap. Cap decorations must be limited to the flat surface of the cap and 2D. No electric or digital displays are allowed. No derogatory language, symbols, or graphics may be displayed on the cap.
5. Unacceptable behavior during the graduation ceremony or failure to comply with appropriate dress requirements will result in removal from the ceremony.
We request that you review these guidelines. The guidelines represent a contractual agreement regarding appropriate behavior and dress. We look forward to a dignified ceremony that allows graduates and their families to hear names as they are called. To ensure proper decorum, we have asked the Coliseum Staff and the North Charleston Police Department to intervene in excessive demonstrations by our guests such as in the case of noise-making devices, and balloons which are banned. We are sure you understand the nature of our request and will honor it on that day.
We are looking forward to a wonderful ceremony! Any questions or concerns should be directed to Angela Childs-Kindred, Graduation Coordinator, at angela_childskindr.c@
For any additional questions, please see Mrs. Childs-Kindred in Room 142 or at angela_childskindr.c@charleston.k12.sc.us.
