National Tech Honor Society (NTHS) Advisor.
NTHS is the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education. Members will be recognized for their achievement in career and technical education.  As a member, you will receive a professional portfolio containing your membership certificate and card to showcase your membership.  In addition, you will receive an official NTHS diploma seal, graduation tassel, lapel pin, and window decal to display your NTHS affiliation.

2018-2019 APPLICATION INFORMATION

The application, and required accompanying materials will be due December 19, 2018

Applicants will receive acceptance package.

The induction ceremony will take place on March 2019.

Eligibility:

  • Students must meet minimum GPA requirements (3.0 overall, and 3.5 within your CTE courses).
  • Students must take a minimum of 4 semesters of Career and Technical Education coursework.
  • Courses you are currently enrolled in may be used toward the 4 semester requirement.
  • Courses being used to fulfill CTE completer.
  • At least three courses must be from the same career cluster so you can demonstrate advancement of skills through coursework in a concentrated area. Please see the J NTHS Application for a list of career clusters and eligible courses.

EXPLORING COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSE CODE: 5023 
 
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Exploring Computer Science is designed to introduce students to the field of computer science through an exploration of engaging and accessible topics. Rather than focusing the entire course on learning particular software tools or programming languages, the course is designed to focus on the conceptual ideas of computing and help students understand the tools and languages that might be used to solve particular problems. The goal of Exploring Computer Science is to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills within the context of problems that are relevant to the lives of today’s students. Students will also be introduced to topics such as interface design, limits of computers, and societal and ethical issues

GAME DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT  ACTIVITY COURSE CODE: 5352 
 
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Game Design and Development is a course covering major aspects of game design including character and world development, game playing, game genres, and theories and principles of game design. Students will gain hands-on experience in simple game development. Concepts and practices will be explored to help students decide if they are interested in pursuing careers in game programming.

ALL CTE EXAMS are taken prior to the James Island School Exam Schedule due to EOC testing during normal bell schedule 1 class time.  All CTE FALL EXAMS are scheduled for Thursday, January 14th and Friday January 15th, 2019
