Board of Directors & Discipline Review Committee

2025 Election Timeline

James Island Charter High School is working with the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina
(PCSASC) to hold this year’s election process. This ensures integrity and confidentiality in the process.

The governing board consists of seven (7) total members; four (4) members are parents of currently enrolled
students, and three (3) of the members are residents of James Island Constituent School District 3. There are
four (4) seats up for election on the Board of Directors. Three (3) parent seats and (1) community seat. There
are also three (3) seats up for election on the Discipline Review Committee. There are two (2) parent seats
and one (1) parent/community seat. Each available seat is for a term of two (2) years.

  • September 15, 2025: The school will distribute a call for Board Candidates to the public. Each prospective board member must complete an online filing form.

  • September 26, 2025: The filing period ends. Acceptance of candidate filings will close at 12:00 pm (Noon).
  • September 30, 2025: Candidate profiles will be posted online.
  • October 7-9, 2025: Voting open with e-ballot links emailed to each parent/guardian and employee of James Island Charter High School. Voting will open on October 7, 2025, at 8:00 am and will close on October 9, 2025, at 4:00 pm. There is one vote per child enrolled in the school and one vote per employee. Each ballot will have a unique pin number to ensure confidentiality and integrity of the process.
  • October 14, 2025: The election results and the school board members will be certified and announced publicly.
  • October 20, 2025: Newly elected board members will be sworn in at the regularly scheduled October Meeting. This completes the election process.

Meeting and Training Requirements:
Board Members are required to attend all board meetings.

Mandated Board Training – Per South Carolina Law, all board members are required to attend board training
within 1 year of being elected. Free trainings will be offered by the South Carolina Department of Education.
