James Island Charter High School Partners with SchoolWheels Direct As New Transportation Provider
Fleet of Vehicles Will Feature Innovative Safety and Communications Equipment
Charleston, SC (July 17, 2015) – James Island Charter High School is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Charleston-based SchoolWheels Direct as its new transportation provider for this upcoming school year. SchoolWheels Direct will be providing a modernized school bus fleet with state-of-the-art technology and safety features. Included on the buses will be SafeStop, an innovative mobile app that connects parents and school officials to the vehicles transporting their students.
“Our primary goal is to see that our children are transported to and from school safely and on time and we are excited about our new partnership with transportation provider SchoolWheels Direct,” stated Richard Gordon, Principal at James Island Charter High School. “The SchoolWheels Direct buses are going to be well-received as they are clean, well-maintained and feature innovative safety and communications equipment and the latest technological developments including GPS tracking systems, two-way radios, onboard cameras, stop-arms and other systems for enhanced security. Our parents are going to really appreciate the SafeStop app and the peace of mind it will bring them.”
The SafeStop app will feature both student and vehicle tracking that allows parents to know where the bus and child are while on route. Parents will be able to securely register online for SafeStop through the school, download the app, and use it when the 2015-16 school year begins. The SafeStop app is accessible from any device connected to the Internet – smartphones, tablets and desktop computers - and provides parents and caretakers with a real-time map feature that displays the location of their child’s bus, estimated arrival times at their bus stop, and an alerts and messaging center to relay important service information from the school or SchoolWheels Direct.
“We look forward to partnering with James Island Charter High School and serving James Island and Folly Beach along with some additional routes in West Ashley and John’s Island,” stated John Roche, Manager of School Wheels Direct. “We are confident that the school, its parents and children will appreciate the open lines of communication and our high level of customer service.”
