James Island Charter High School is offering summer “Credit Recovery” program for JICHS students who were enrolled during the 2017-2018 school year and have failed a course and would like to recover the lost credit.

DATES, TIMES, AND LOCATION

Summer Credit Recovery is scheduled from June 18th through July 26th, Monday-Thursday (subject to change based on student needs).  Summer Credit Recovery will not be held on July 4th.

Students can register for up to two (2) credits, but must select one session to attend:

    • Session 1: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
    • Session 2: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Credit Recovery will be held at James Island Charter High School in the Technology Hall.

Registration

    • June 4th  – June 15th
    • 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
    • Guidance Office

Students will be permitted to register for up to two (2) credits, provided that:

    • The student has previously failed the course, or
    • The student has received an FA/51 due to attendance issues.

The Principal will make the final decision regarding the approval or denial of a request to register for the Summer Credit Recovery program.


TRANSPORTATION

  • Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.


FEES                                                              

  • One credit course:       $200.00       FULL PAYMENT DUE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION!
  • ½ credit course:           $100.00                      


-IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

 

  1. Students must have taken the End-Of-Course Examination if the course requires it.  The student is not required to pass the EOCE in order to be eligible for Summer Credit Recovery.

     

  2. If a student passes the credit recovery course with a 60 or higher, the passing grade is entered as a "P" as the final grade and transcribed to the numerical grade value of "0".The original failing grade will remain on the transcript as is.  Thus, the credit recovery course does not impact the student's GPA.

    A student wishing to modify his or her GPA shall repeat the full course for credit and not seek a credit recovery solution. 

  3. If a student does not successfully complete all work with an overall average of 60 in the allotted time, he or she will not receive credit for the course.  NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED IN THE CASE OF CREDIT NOT BEING EARNED.

     

  4. Students who incur any disciplinary infractions while enrolled during the summer Credit Recovery program may be dismissed immediately.  NO MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED IN THE CASE OF DISCIPLINARY DISMISSALS.
